Over 400 attend Our Place BBQ event in Brooklyn
Community leaders and politicians were amongst the large turnout for the first annual Our Place BBQ fund-raiser and awareness event. The event sponsored by T Fusion Steakhouse was successful in creating awareness about the substance abuse issues within the Jewish communities. Numerous successful appeals were made throughout the evening.
Founded in 1998, Our Place employs a multi-faceted approach to counseling, rehabilitating and guiding troubled Jewish youth in their return to mainstream society. Our Place has numerous youth centers which are a haven for over 1000 teenagers annually facing a wide range of social problems and substance abuse issues. These Teens come from all strains of Jewish communities nationwide. Our Place has Services that include Single Motherhood Assistance, Job Placement, GED Program, Substances Abuse counseling, 24/7 Crisis Hotline, Time Out Retreats, One- On-One, and locations offer Hot Meals daily.
Jewish Boxer Dmitriy Salita spoke of his own trials and tribulations and the constant will to overcome and succeed. State Assemblyman Dov Hikind, Shomrim Patrols' Director Chaim Duetsch, NYPD Captain Michael Deddo, NYPD Seargent Ira Jablonsky, and NYPD Officer Richard Taylor are all tremendous supporters of Our Place who assisted with the street closure and community affairs for the event to occur.
